Fair use

What unlimited means

DNS queries, API reads, and renewals are unlimited on every plan. We never meter or bill for them, and we never throttle a legitimate workload, however heavy. A workload that genuinely costs money at scale is a conversation about an Enterprise plan, not an enforcement action.

What fair use covers

This policy exists for attacks and platform abuse only: denial of service against our nameservers, using the API as a storage or exfiltration channel, evading rate limits across accounts, and hosting infrastructure for phishing or malware. It is never invoked against ordinary use of the service.

Hard limits

• Registration writes (creating, updating, or releasing hostnames) carry hard technical rate limits per API key, with a burst allowance and a sustained rate.
• Each tier has a published cap on active hostnames. The current caps appear on the pricing page. There are no hidden quotas.

Enforcement

Enforcement follows a ladder, in order: automated mitigation first, then notice to the account, then suspension. We skip the ladder in one case: hostnames used for phishing or malware are taken down immediately.
